How did Hollywood get its name?
Daeida Wilcox gave Hollywood its name. She was the spouse of Harvey Wilcox, who possessed the region and in 1887 presented a development guide to the Los Angeles district recorder's office that utilized the name. A faithful Christian, Daeida purportedly heard the word Hollywood on a train and believed that it was an ideal name for the Wilcoxes' imagined perfect world.
